1. Classification by purpose

1) Power distribution appliances: Mainly used in low-voltage power supply systems, including knife switches, transfer switches, fuses, circuit breakers, etc. The main technical requirements for power distribution appliances are strong breaking capacity, good current limiting effect and protection performance, and good dynamic and thermal stability.
2) Control electrical appliances: Mainly used in electric drive control systems, including contactors, relays, starters and master electrical appliances. The main technical requirements of control appliances are corresponding conversion capability, high operating frequency, long electrical life and mechanical life.

2. Classified by operation method

1) Automatic electrical appliances: refers to electrical appliances that are connected, disconnected, started, and stopped by electromagnetic or pneumatic mechanisms. It mainly includes contactors, circuit breakers, relays, etc.
2) Manual electrical appliances: refers to electrical appliances that are connected, disconnected, started, and stopped by manpower, and are non-automatic switching electrical appliances. It mainly includes knife switches, transfer switches and master electrical appliances.

3. Classified by working conditions

1) General industrial electrical appliances: These electrical appliances are used in power distribution systems and electric drive control systems under normal environmental conditions such as machinery manufacturing, and are the basic products of low-voltage electrical appliances.
2) Chemical electrical appliances: The main technical requirement of chemical electrical appliances is corrosion resistance.
3) Mining electrical appliances: The main technical requirement of mining electrical appliances is explosion-proof.
4) Traction electrical appliances: The main technical requirements of traction electrical appliances are vibration and shock resistance.
5) Marine electrical appliances: The main technical requirements of marine electrical appliances are resistance to moisture, bumps and shocks.
6) Aviation electrical appliances: The main technical requirements of aviation electrical appliances are small size, light weight, vibration and shock resistance.

4. Classified by working principle

1) Electromagnetic appliances: The sensing elements of electromagnetic appliances receive electrical signals such as current or voltage.
2) Non-electricity control electrical appliances: The signals received by the sensing elements of this type of electrical appliances are non-electricity signals such as heat, temperature, rotation speed, and mechanical force.

5. Classification by use category

The commonly used categories of low-voltage AC contactors and motor starters are as follows:
1) AC-1 is used for non-inductive or low-inductive loads, resistance furnaces, etc.;
2) AC-2 is used for starting, breaking, etc. of wound rotor asynchronous motors;
3) AC-3 is used for starting and breaking of cage asynchronous motors;
4) AC-4 is used for starting, reverse braking or reverse running, jog, etc. of cage asynchronous motors.
