How does the infrared sensor switch work?
Ordinary human’s body will emit infrared light with the specific wave length—about 10um, which can be detected by specially designed sensors. Pyroelectric infrared pir (PIR) motion sensor is usually applied in infrared induction source. When the infrared light from human body is exposed to the sensor, the detector will lose electric charge balance after receiving the changes from the temperature of human infrared radiation, and releasing the charge outward, so that the switch can be triggered after the detecting and processing of the the subsequent circuit.
The core components of the product are the pyroelectric infrared pir(PIR) motion sensor and the Fresnel lens.
Pyroelectric infrared sensor can transfer infrared signals with the wavelength between 8-12um into electrical signals, and suppress the white light signal in nature. Therefore, when there is no human movement in the alerting zone of passive infrared detector, PIR only senses the temperature in background. When a human enters the alerting zone, PIR can sense the difference signal between the human body’s temperature and the background temperature through the Fresnel lens. As the fact of that, the basic concept of infrared detector is to sense the differences between the temperature of the moving object and the background.
Fresnel lens has two forms, namely refractive and reflective form. It has two functions: one is the focusing, which refers to refract(reflect) the pyroelectric infrared signal on the PIR; another is to divide the altering zone into a number of bright and dark areas, so that the PIR can sense the pyroelectric infrared signal created by the temperature changes from the moving objects in this zone, and then it can release electrical signals.
In order to enhance its sensitivity and reduce interference from white light, a special Fresnel filter lens is usually covered the probe’s radiation surface. According to different performance requirements, Fresnel filter lens has different focal length(sensing distance), so that it can produce different monitoring fields of view. The more fields of view it produces, the more serious the control can be.
With the advancement of technology, infrared sensor switches are used widely in daily life. They are designed with low power consumption and can be controlled with series connection in lighting circuits with unipolarity. It can adjust starting controlled illuminance when using. When adjusting it in an anticlockwise direction, it can be started under the circumstance with stronger ambient illumination; when adjusting it in a clockwise direction, it can be started under the circumstance with less ambient illumination. In addition, it also supports time delay adjustments with the adjustment range between 20 seconds to 6 minutes.

Proper installation should meet the following conditions.
a. The sensor switch should be 2.0-2.4 meters above the ground.
b. The sensor should be away from air conditioners, refrigerators, furnaces and other objects that can easily make air temperature changed.
c. There should be no screens, furniture, large bonsai or other partitions within the detection range of the sensor switch.
d. The sensor switch should not be installed in a place where has strong turbulence.
Infrared sensor switch shall not be wired with electricity during installation. It’s mainly used to control fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps and other products. When using it with power at the first time, it takes 30-60 seconds to establish internal voltage, so that the infrared sensor switch can be used smoothly. It should pay attention to that the product should not be installed in places where has thermal flowing through, and the control load for heating should be greater than 1 meter. Products without zero line or 2 wire for emergency control can be wired without the consideration of wiring polarity. If the product has zero line or emergency control, it should be wired based on the the diagram. When using it to adjust the controlled light illumination and delay turning knob, people should avoid making damage to the products by making force moderately.

1. How does the infrared sensor switch make connection?
1.Infrared sensor switch can be classified into three types, namely downlight type, celling type and wall mounted type according to their appearance. The modern downlight type sensor switch is keep the same size as that of the traditional downlight type.
2.The installation methods of ceiling type sensor switches are the same in essentials while differing in minor points. Taking SN05 ceiling type infrared sensor for example, it should make a hole with 60mm diameters in the ceiling. Four terminals, L, N, LOUT, and NOUT, are connected to the inlet wire of live wire, the inlet wire of zero line, the outlet wire of live wire, and the outlet wire of zero line respectively. After connecting, the installation can be finished when the switch is fastened into the ceiling; if there is no suspended ceiling under the installation circumstance, the top box of the switch can be locked on the ceiling with screws first, and then the switch can be screwed into the bottom box.
3.The sensing range from left side to right side of the switch is larger than that from upper side to lower side, so its central axis should be made as perpendicular as possible to the direction of the human walkway when installing switch. This kind of way can make the sensor work better. Give power after finishing the installation. When there has a lot of light surrounding, the bulb will flicker three times, and the switch will enter the monitoring state after 60 seconds of initialization. The switch works when objects cover the light. When a person does not leave the sensing range and moves, the switch will continue to work; after the person leaves, the switch will automatically postpone to close the load.
4.After installing the switch and giving power, the switch will directly enter the monitoring state when the light is not enough under that circumstance. People still moves within that zone, and the switch will continue to work. If the user is not satisfied with the delay time or light sensing value, the adjustment can be made through the delay control button.

This device works based on the principle of infrared reflection. When the human hand or a part of the body within the infrared sensing zone, the infrared emitted by the infrared transmitting tube reflects to the infrared receiving tube due to the covering of human hand or body. The signal is sent to the pulse solenoid valve after being processed by the microcomputer in the integrated circuit, and then the valve opens the spool according to the specified instructions to control the water output from the tap.
When the human’s hand or body is beyond the infrared sensing range, the solenoid valve does not get the signal, so it controls the water tap off through resetting the internal spring.

Installation and application
1. Installation shall not be connected with electricity, and it should be strictly prohibited the short-circuit load. It may take 30 ~ 60 seconds to establish the internal voltage, so that the switch can work smoothly.
2.Due to the big starting current of fluorescent lamps and energy-saving lamps, it is a better choice to control two below loads with one switch.
3. Do not install the product in places where has thermal flowing through, and the control load for heating should be greater than 1 meter.
4. Products without zero line or 2 wire for emergency control can be wired without the consideration of wiring polarity. If the product has zero line or emergency control, it should be wired based on the the diagram. (products without emergency control is not wired in EM end).
5. When using it to adjust the controlled light illumination and delay turning time knob, people should avoid making damage to the product by making force moderately.
1. Prohibit installing and operating with electricity, and forbid the short-circuit load.
2. Prohibit using under overload power.
3. When thickness of the wall is less than 10 cm, the switch may be sensed across walls.
4. Within the sensing zone, avoid having obstacles or objects in constant motion that affect its detection.
